PROCESSES OF LANDSCAPE CHANGE IN PASSIVE MARGINS

Changes in the landscape can leave distinct signatures in topography and sedimentary records. My group uses computer tools for topographic analysis, GIS, spatial analysis, and pair these with existing (or our own) databases to study evidence and processes of landscape change.

AMAZONIA

Funded by CNPq (R$24.8k)

GOAL: To advance our understanding about timing, pace, and controls of landscape change in Amazonia

• Topographic analysis of landscape transience

• Detrital zircon provenance

• In-situ cosmogenic nuclide burial dating of paleochannel deposits

• Meteoric 10Be record in offshore deposits of the Amazon River

• Field mapping

SOUTHEAST BRAZIL

GOAL: Use the tectonically inactive Brazilian landscapes as a natural laboratory to investigate processes of landscape change in a passive margin
• Topographic signatures related to river captures
• Spatial analysis of landslides and triggers (**looking for a student)
• Lithologic influence on topography
