La La Land - Learning about life and Landscapes

Life and Landscapes

That species evolution is affected by past geologic events is well known. However, we know very little about mechanistic links between landscape and species evolution.
I have recently started investigating Landscape-Species relationships using published databases on aquatic species distribution and topographic and hydrologic analysis.

• Constrain the timing of major river capture events in Eastern Amazon using cosmogenic nuclides and luminescence dating;
• Use fish genetics to determine if river captures influence biological processes of speciation, extinction, and dispersal.
